Lula's Sweet Apothecary in NYC's East Village (6th Street between Avenues A and B) is a place I've been meaning for visit for a while. It's top-rated "A" by the Health Dept. which I always like to see, and it was packed the night I was there, so it's clear that word has gotten around about this friendly spot with its down-home decor and allergen-sensitive list of goodies.

I enjoyed a scoop of coffee ice cream with some hot fudge sauce, both gluten-free, vegan and delicious, although the coffee was a bit more delicate than, say, Hagen Dasz, but then, HD doesn't have the health benefits, does it?

Don't think the list of flavors available at Lula is short because of the healthy "sweet apothecary" it is.

How about gluten-free vegan sauces like Marshmallow, Pineapple, Peanut Butter and Strawberry? Syrups (apple, cinnamon and tons of others), creative toppings (from traditional sprinkles to sour gummy bears), and the vintage decor make
this a fun snack destination after dinner at your favorite East Village gluten-free eatery.
(Pala for pizza, perhaps?)
