A gluten free grilled cheese sandwich at Friedman's Lunch in Chelsea Market, NYC
is anything but typical diner fare.

The gluten-free bread is crisply toasted, overfilled with melted cheese and best of all is the inclusion of a richly caramelized onion jam. The sandwich is usually offered with bacon, but if you are vegetarian, Friedman's will accommodate you. Order the grilled asparagus, which is served with shaved parmesan, to pair with the sandwich. Too much cheese in one meal? Not if you're the cheese fan I am!

Friedman's is welcoming to gluten-free diners, and all dishes which are gluten-free or can be served gluten-free with minor adjustments are clearly marked.
